Erwfforch Dewin Direudus (1992 - 2009)

Colour:

Bay

Breeding:

WPCS D

Sire: Trevallion Can Comet (WPCS)
Dam: Gwrthafarn Bronwen (WPCS)
Damsire: Twyford Druid (WPCS)

Height: 150 cm
Born: 3rd April 1992
Died: 2009
Graded: SPSS; Licensed WPCS

Erwfforch Dewin Direudus was licensed with the WPCS and carried the best of Welsh Bloodlines. His temperament is exceptional; gentlemanlike at all times but having the flair and charisma to stand out in the crowd.  In 2007, Dewin’s long time owners, Jane & Ann Roberts presented him for SPSS grading where at the age of 15, Dewin graded with no individual score (out of 10) of less than 8 and an incredible full marks for his superb temperament. Sadly, he died in 2009.

He began covering at the age of three and started his ridden career at the age of four. From the start he proved to be a very willing and intelligent pupil and very soon he swept the County circuit, taking many Championships under saddle. He competed under saddle on the World stage for Welsh Breeds, at the Royal Welsh Show, in both junior and senior stallion classes, each time at the top of the line.

He soon began his dressage career and competed at affiliated level Elementary and found working at Medium level at home very easy.  Hunting, long distance rides, driving and WHP competitions were all disciplines under his umbrella.  It was at this point at the tender age of seven, that disaster struck. Whilst being driven on the beach, an impromptu meeting with a loose dog stalled his riding activities for seven years.

Despite the injury sustained, ‘Dewin’ continued to cover an increasing number of mares. This was a testament to his all round ability as, despite his premature ‘retirement’ from competition under saddle, he was very much sought after as a sire. To date he has 37 progeny registered with the WPCS, mainly part bred but also some pure. Other progeny are registered with other Societies or dual registered.

His success as a sire is not only due to his own ability but also the unquestionable ability of his progeny. As they matured and began competing his popularity increased. His offspring have proven to be multi talented and can turn their hooves to very much anything. He has proven himself to be very pre-potent and virtually all his stock are very capable competitors and talented jumpers.
