Hilkens Charismatic joined Blaenllain & Olympus Stud in November 2021, and in due course will hopefully come out under saddle in BD, SJ and Eventing.

Hilkens Charismatic’s pedigree combines the best bloodlines from one of the most important German pony breeding areas, Weser-Ems. Charismatic gives the UK breeder a fantastic opportunity to acquire bloodlines from generations of hugely successful ponies, whilst also including his valuable and marketable HILKENS prefix in the bloodlines.

Hilkens Charismatic was bred by Sabine Meiners, of the famous Hilkens Stud Farm in Germany, who is the breeder of numerous FEI International competition ponies and sires. Charismatic, having been bred from some of the very best of bloodlines including has many FEI International names in his pedigree, makes him an excellent choice of sire to use to breed either specialist or dual purpose sports ponies

Sire:

Joldis Charmant was Reserve Champion of his grading, he is a son of the highly esteemed Champion De Luxe who was twice Bundeschampion, performance test Champion & renowned sire.

Dam:

St Pr Shakrah was Weser-Ems mare grading champion & Bundeschampion in Warendorf, she is the dam of three licensed stallions: Hilkens Charismatic, Hilkens Dance Forever & Hilkens Crown Prince. She is also a ¾ sister of Hilkens Black Delight. She out of the famous St Pr Elite mare Sira who produced three mare grading Champions, four state premium mares, a dynasty of stallions & her daughter Syra bred Hilkens Black Delight (by Branduardi M)

Damsire:

Branduardi M was Weser-Ems licensing Champion, Performance test Champion, Reserve Bundeschampion in 1999 and 2nd Reserve in 2000. He was a successful FEI dressage pony and was a member of the Swiss team. He is the sire of Shakyrah’s ¾ brother ‘Hilkens Black Delight’ who was licensing champion, performance test champion, a successful dressage pony, and renowned sire.

Hilkens Charismatic was graded in Germany and was awarded Premium status with the Hannoverian Pony Verband. He achieved excellent marks for both his movement and jumping ability.

Charismatic was produced under saddle and showed great promise, with an excellent work ethic, good character and super train-ability. He has a naturally active engaged hind leg & expressive uphill movement. He also showed great scope and technique over fences.

2015 was his first year competing. He won several championships locally, represented his Riding Club at the Badminton Championships where he was individual Champion & BYRDS Wales at the Inter-Regional Championships winning his first class with 90%. He did 6 BD tests, winning or placing every time with scores up to 85% & qualified for the 2016 Petplan Championships.

In 2016 he represented Wales at the Home Internationals and was Individual Novice Champion then at the 2016 BYRDS Championships he won both Team and Individual Championships. In 2017, he moved up to Elementary level, winning 4 classes showing his wonderful temperament and behaving impeccably.

In 2019, with a different rider, he won 4 Novice classes then moved back to Elementary where he also won 4 classes before winning the  Wellington Novice (Silver) Area Festival in May and the Parwood Equestrian Centre Novice (U21)Area Festival Final in October - both times scoring over 70%.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Charismatic has proved himself as a successful competition horse as well as the sire of dual purpose stock that have gone on successfully in various disciplines. With the temperament and trainability to have been ridden and produced by junior / youth riders, he proved himself to be reliable and willing, passing all his excellent qualities making him an ideal choice for breeding children’s ponies.

Of his older progeny, in 2021, Delaroche Charming, a 2014 foal was 6th in the Prelim class at Prestige Equestrian LLP Winter Area Festival in 2021 and a 2015 filly, Cambourne Charisma, started her British Eventing career at BE90 with 2 wins, both times on her dressage score, finished 8th at the Chillington Hall Area Festival then won at BE90 at her first BE event with a new rider.
