Sire:  Leuns Veld's Winston is a proven international FEI dressage pony who has competed internationally for the Netherlands at CDIP competitions since he was just 7 years old until moving to be competed for Poland in 2017.  As a 3 year old, he passed his performance test with good marks then, as a 4 year old, he qualified for the 2011 Dutch Young Pony Championships with the 3rd highest qualifying score.  His sire, Bodo, was awarded the Sport predicate (just before he was sold to Sweden) having competed at Z2 level and been the Dutch Young Dressage Pony Champion.  Bodo is also the sire of the  international dressage pony Reedborder Amazing who was 2nd in the Pony Team Test at the Roosendal CDIP in December 2016..  His dam, Leuns Veld's Heidi, has been awarded the Keur and Preferent predicates and was National Champion 4 times and her dam, Molenhof's Ilonka, also gained those predicates and was National Champion.  Grandsire Coelenhage's Purioso is also the sire of the Swedish international dressage pony Jarno.

Dam:  Campsterhoven's Esmee traces her ancestry back through her dam to Bubbles, the famous British dam of multiple champion ponies, via her son by Wingrove Minkino, Oakley (C) Bubbling On.  She also has a small percentage of Arab blood as the Arab stallion Naivnyi is in her 3rd generation twice.

Damsire:  Aester El Nino was 3rd in the 6 year old Dutch Young Dressage Championships in 2009 and his 11 year old son, Klooster's Eltino (x Bright Moon xx) was 3rd in the 2014 Danish FEI Pony Championships.  He is also the sire of the show jumper, Wondergirl 32 (x Anjershof Rocky) who has achieved top 3 placings at A, L & M levels.  Aester El Nino is by Bjirmen’s Wytse, a NWPCS Studbook Approved Stallion who sired other approved stallions and a number of successful broodmares. Wytse won numerous International and National prizes both as a showjumper and as a dressage pony, including a bronze team medal with the British team at the Pony European Dressage Championships. He was awarded both a ‘sport’ premium (for success in competition) and a ‘preferent’ premium (for success as a sire).  Bjirmen's Wytse is also the sire of Siepke's Celtic (x Oakley (C) Bubbling On) who has competed internationally in dressage.

Performance

Mando was imported into the UK in September 2016 and presented for grading with the SPSS only a few weeks later.  Mando impressed the SPSS grading judges and was licensed.  The judges were particularly impressed by his free trot and canter and considered him to be an athletic stallion with good uphill tendency.

Since the SPSS grading, Mando has been focussed on his breeding career.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Mando was available in the UK for the first time in 2017 and his first foals, from mares ranging from pure-bred Welsh Sec B & D to graded sports ponies, were already eagerly awaited in 2018.  One of these took the Elite Foals Tour Champion Pony title that year then followed it up with 3rd place in the 2023 British Dressage KBIS Young Pony Championship for Four-year-olds.

Overall, 7 of his progeny have been presented for evaluation by the British Breeding Futurity and all have received Gold Premiums - and one achieved this as a foal and as a 3 year old.

As Mando is 46.13% Welsh, his foals will be at least 23% Welsh (more if the dam has Welsh blood) and so, as well as being eligible for SPSS passports, they will also be eligible for WPCS Part-bred registration.

Mando is expected to be popular with breeders looking to refine and improve the movement of their mares and with his dam sire being a proven producer of jumping & dressage ponies, it is anticipated that Mando’s progeny could do either, depending on the mare.
