Laban is an extremely successful all-round Sports Pony Sire by the great Alexsander. He is from a family of internationally renowned bloodlines and related to dressage horses Patrick of Finland, Gizmo and Acolito, being ¾ brother to Acolito through his dam’s sire Honnor Ostrup.  Laban's stock are successful in many fields, including the outstanding RED ALERT, European Team SILVER MEDALLIST event pony at 7 years old.  Laban was awarded the 2007 BEF British Breeding Top Pony Sire of Performance Ponies in January 2008.

Laban is graded ELITE with the SPSS, obtaining superb marks including 9/10 for both sports pony type and loose jumping. He is also licensed with the NPS. After a break for covering he returned to compete at dressage with a 12 year old girl and was part of the GOLD MEDAL winning team at 2003 Sheepgate U21 British Dressage Championships ridden by Anna McGarel-Groves (see picture top right). He was 19 at the time. He has also been selected for Central BYRDS several times. As well as dressage, Laban is a reliable and fun pony enjoying pony club camp and fancy dress - a testament to his temperament!

In 2005, Laban started his in hand career in between a busy stud season to win a veteran class and be overall in hand champion first time out. 

Laban has now retired, apart from the occasional outing in local Veteran classes, so he is available for live covering and to tease his own mares throughout the season.  As from 2008, Laban will also be available by AI through Quinton Stud (please call Michelle for more details).  Mares of all sizes can be covered and taken for foaling at the stud.  Laban's stud card states that he passes on a PROVEN International bloodline, a PROVEN Competition record for himself, a PROVEN progeny record, a PROVEN ELITE status and above all a PROVEN Temperament for children and adults alike.
