Sire:

Lauriston was bred by Paul Schockemohle and was the winner of the German 6 year old jumping Championships in 1992 with the record score of 9.7 for style and scope. He was purchased by the Bolvorm Stables, Holland, for 2 million DM in 1992.  Under the name of Bolvorm’s Lauriston he continued his National and International career ridden by Jos Lansink and Ben Schroder, winning in Modena and Waterloo. Lauriston sired 10 International horses from his first crop of foals. Amongst these were Catapult (Billy Twomey and Michael Whitaker) and Promise Me, Ian Miller’s Athens 2004 Olympic ride.  Lauriston's offspring do consistently well in the BEF Futurity Evaluations, and in 2010, Lauriston sired the BEF Futurity highest marked entry across all ages and disciplines, the colt foal, Classictop Lancelot, bred by Jane Townshend.

Lauriston's sire is Latus I, ½ brother to Capitol I and II and full brother to Latus II.  Lauriston’s dam Gerlinde is by the international jumper Granit (by Goldfalk) and out of the famous international mare Andorra (by Agram) she was unbeatable during her career ridden by Manfred Kloes.  Lauriston has bred 2 other approved stallions so far: Nairobi, sold to the USA, and Agrovorm’s Paddington, Jos Lansink.  During the International Stallion Show at Zwolle in Holland, Lauriston was presented with the honorary titles of ‘Elite Performance Stallion’

Of recent note for Sports Pony breeders is the fact that Lauriston is the dam-sire of Jessica Mendoza’s 2011 team Gold & individual Bronze medal winning Team GB pony Tixylix.

Dam:

Land Star’s dam Lara, also an Oldenburg bred by Paul Schockemohle, is by Lando out of a Quick Star (Meredith Michael-Beerbaums) x Sandro mare.  Quick Star was an International Showjumper who also sired the International Showjumper Quick Study.

Damsire:

Lando won an individual Olympic Silver medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 ridden by Albert Voorn.

Performance

Land Star is currently at Red Fox Equestrian starting his ridden career. He is being gently introduced to competition & recently won on his very first dressage outing.

It is anticipated that Land Star will live up to his impressive show jumping pedigree & he is destined to ultimately continue his show jumping career with 2009 European Junior Champion & 2010 Youth Olympic Team Gold medallist Carian Scudamore.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Land Star is a truly beautiful young stallion who is fantastically well engineered & seriously athletic. He is proving very trainable & has an incredible temperament.

Land Star has not yet got any offspring on the ground but I anticipate him being a very versatile stallion crossing well with & improving a wide range of mares. He certainly could be used to breed both serious competition ponies or cross with larger mares to introduce quality.
