Kestrel’s pedigree is second to none, it includes illustrious ponies such as Solway Master Bronze, Downland Chevalier, Coed Coch Madog and Berwynfa which had such an influence on the show pony Constantin who has produced outstanding sports ponies in Germany and beyond.

Sire:

Milford Fanfare has competed in HOYS working hunter classes.

Dam:

Garrow Kara produced an international J.A. pony.

Damsire:

His maternal grandsire is Keston Royal Occasion, who is renowned around the world and was exported to Australia in 1982.

Performance

Kestrel has been champion many times in Welsh Pony classes winning several silver and bronze medals. He has also been champion at Ponies (UK), and in palomino classes.  Kestrel was only backed in 2007, but in that year, he qualified for the Royal International Horse Show and also the Horse of the Year Show in open flat classes.  We purchased Kestrel in 2009 from his breeder to be our Section B stud stallion.

Under saddle, Kestrel has proved versitile.  In dressage, he has had two firsts and one fourth in three outings and he qualified for the NPS Top Spec Dressage Championships at the National Pony Society Summer Championships.  As a Working Hunter pony, he has had four wins, qualifying twice for the NPS Championships and Equifest.  Showjumping, he has had 3 firsts and 1 second, jumping double clears and qualifying for the David Broome finals and 2nd round Trailblazers. When showing, he was 5th in an Open ridden Olympia qualifier, 2nd in a NPS open ridden qualifying for the National Welsh Championships.  Kestrel was also 4th Section B stallion at the Welsh Pony and Cob Society Performance Awards and also 4th in the dressage out of all Welsh sections A B C D and part bred.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Kestrel was used lightly by his breeder (she also stands his sire), but he did sire the winning foal at Ponies (UK).  His first foal for Offcote Stud has been in the top three placings every time shown at County level.

Kestrel carries the dilute gene for palomino and would be ideal to use on larger mares to downsize.
