Orchard Glasnost is a Dutch partbred Welsh (NWPCS Section K) stallion whose pedigree includes many foundation lines which have been instrumental in producing top European Sports Ponies.

Sire: Wester Aikema’s Norbert is a son of the renown part Welsh riding pony, Downland Folklore, who as the sire of many graded stallions, is a key influence in modern Sports Pony breeding and was posthumously declared an Elite stallion in the Netherlands. Norbert’s dam line includes Criban and Cusop ponies as well as the part bred Arab Oola.

Dam: Orchard Perestrojka is a Keur and Elite NWPS Sec K mare (47% Welsh) whose dam, Orchard’s Bonne Louise ia graded Ster Pref and by the Thoroughbred Cocky Dundas who features in the pedigree of many notable German Riding ponies, including FS Champion de Luxe. Perestrojka’s granddam, Upperten Golden Jeanne was a riding pony from Arab and Welsh Mountain pony lines and was graded Ster Pref. Perestrojka is full sister to the graded stallion Orchard D’Avranches who sired many champions, successful sports ponies and graded sons.

Orchard Glasnost has three exceptional paces and an excellent attitude to work. He is spirited, intelligent with a great sense of humour tempered by a genuine, kind and gentle nature, he is easy and affable in hand. He has competed regularly at Advanced Medium Dressage scoring in high sixties and is now competing at Prix St Georges. He qualified for the Regional Championships in 2008. At home, he is training towards GP, including piaffe, passage, canter pirouettes and one time changes.

Orchard Glasnost has sired quality offspring from both ponies and warmblood & TB horses. His progeny out of a TB has produced a potential eventer. Orphelia (out of the Hanovarian Welcome) won her foal class at the BD Breed Show. Opera (also out of Welcome) and Ottavia (out of the Dutch bred pony Bernwode Evelina S by Prinz Albert) also placed in youngstock classes in other years at the BD Breed Show.
