Sire: Rembrandt's pedigree shows the usefulness of the Welsh Section B in performance pony breeding with his sire, Renoir, being by the Dutch-based Welsh Section B, Racket, whose pedigree contains such illustrious names as Tetworth Crimson Lake and Solway Master Bronze. Renoir's dam, Ramona, has a pedigree that also includes Welsh Section B as well as German Riding Pony, Oldenburg and Thoroughbred bloodlines. Renoir himself won Bronze medals at the Bundeschampionat aged 3 and 4.
Dam: Rembrandt's dam, Prinzess is a daughter of Viktoria's Chirac out of the German Riding Pony Hauptstutbuch (Head Studbook) mare, Primana. Primna's sire was Colano who was by the Welsh Sec B Colza out of an Oldenburg mare. Primna's dam, Hauptstutbuch Paleness, was a daughter of the notable sire Diamant II who won a Gold Medal for Germany as a member of the 1982 European Pony Dressage Team and sired many licensed sons and State Premium daughters.
Damsire: Rembrandt's damsire is Viktoria's Chirac, who is a graded son of the famous sire Constantin out of an Oldenburg mare. Constantin was another Welsh Section B, although he was bred in Holland, and is one of the foundation sires of the modern German riding pony breed. Constantin was a prolific sire of winning ponies including 'Cash and Go' and 'Konrad' who were members of the German Gold Medal team at the European Pony Dressage Championships in 2000. Viktoria's Chirac himself was the sire of the multiple Gold medal winning Eventing Pony, Cyrano. |

Rembrandt was licensed by the Weser Ems as a two year old in 2003. In 2005, aged 4, he won the Dutch Riding Pony Championships, the Pavo Cup, for 4 & 5 year old ponies. In 2006, Rembrandt was also approved for breeding by the Dutch Welsh Pony and Cob Society (as he is part Welsh) and, again, won the Pavo Cup for 4 & 5 year old ponies. The in 2007, Rembrandt made it a remarkable "hat trick" by winning the Pavo Cup for 6 year old ponies, followed by a 4th placing in the German Bundeschampionat.
Ridden by Maria van den Dugen, Rembrandt was a member of the Dutch team at both the 2009 and 2010 Pony European Championships. In 2009, they won Team Silver, placing 6th in the team test, then 8th in the Individual Championships before going on to win the Consolation Finals. In 2010, Rembrandt and Maria were again on the Dutch team and this time won Team Gold, placing 2nd in the team test and 4th in both the Individual and Kur tests.
Following this, Rembrandt moved to the UK to be ridden by Maisie Scruton and, despite it being Maisie's first Championships and her only having ridden Rembrandt for less than a year, they were selected for the British team at the 2011 Pony European Championships. At the Championships, they scored an impressive personal best of 72.25% to take 6th place and be the highest scoring British combinations in the team test. Maisie and Rembrandt then went on to score well in the Individual (71.842%) and Kur (73.525%) Championships, being placed 9th both times. Rembrandt and Maisie's Team Test score is the highest ever British team score to date.
Rembrandt and Maisie's campagn for a place on the 2012 Pony European Championships Team got off to a great start when they won the first of the nominated competitions, at Myerscough Premier League. They followed this up by scoring 72.564% in the key Team Test class at the Keysoe Under 21s Premier League. Rembrandt and Maisie also won the Pony Freestyle class at Keysoe with 76.13% |

Rembrandt's first foals were born in 2006 and one of them, a daughter Haya (damsire Sandro Hit), was invited to the German Pony Foal Championships where she did well and finished in seventh place. Then at age three, Haya graded and was awarded State Premium Mare status. Another daughter, the 4 year old Vienna Van Sundance was "small-size" Champion at the 2011 Dutch Appaloosa Studbook Grading with the judges being particularly impressed by her forelegs.
Rembrandt is registered and licensed with the Weser Ems studbook in Germany and as he is 43.75% Welsh, he is also licensed by the Dutch Welsh Pony and Cob Society (NWPCS).
Rembrandt's owner reports that his temperament is second to none, which is a priority when breeding sports ponies primarily for children to compete and enjoy. Rembrandt has huge presence in the arena and is never phased by atmosphere, weather etc. Not only does he have fantastic paces for dressage, he also has the right brain and loves his job giving 100% every time. Rembrandt also has a fine jump making him a very versatile sire. He is beautifully mannered both in and out of the stable and loves attention. He is the perfect gentleman with enough character, charm and look at me attitude to make him a favourite with all who meet him. |
