Sire:  Sarkozy won the hearts of the crowd during his stallion approvals. With outstanding impulsion & maximum freedom in the shoulder, he redefined the meaning of ‘ground covering’. Described as “an athlete for the elite dressage sport”, Sarkozy combines two of the world’s most famous sires: Sandro Hit & Weltmeyer, both serial-producers of champions along with Bolero through Bogenschuetze. Sandro Hit’s achievements as a sire can only be described as phenomenal and Weltmeyer has produced many national champions, licensing champions & international top-class horses including Olympic horses.

Dam: Weser-Ems graded Sannanvalley Valencia descends from generations of influential ponies including, from her dam, Valiant & Oakley Bubbling Spring and back to Bwlch Valentino & Downland Chevalier several times. She is now successfully competing for Pony Club teams with a 9 yr old rider.

Damsire: Welsh Sec B Rudgeway Charming Prince has produced hugely successful HOYS winners and International sport ponies both in the UK and abroad. His pedigree includes the well known & influential Keston Royal Occasion (who also appears in the pedigree of double Pony European Jumping Champion Machno Carwyn) and Kirby Cane Sundog (a grandson of the famous Downland Chevalier and sire of Kirby Cane Bugler who appears in the pedigree of many successful German ponies)

Performance

At the 2017 Pony European Championships representing Ireland

RFS Socrates has a super trainable, kind and willing temperament and loves to please. At the BEF Futurity Evaluations, he was the highest scoring pony over all disciplines as a 2 and 3 year old and was awarded a Certificate of Merit at the British Breeders Awards Dinner in London both times.

Romeo is currently in Ireland being ridden and trained by a pony rider (since she was 14) and gaining scores of over 70% at Elementary & 67%+ in the FEI Pony tests. They are on the Irish High Performance Dressage Youth Development Squad and represented Ireland in their first International, CDI  Sint-Truiden in April 2017 - competing in the Team Test on Socrates' seventh birthday.

This achievement gained Socrates the coveted SPSS ELITE status, which is only awarded to graded ponies that compete at FEI level or have progeny competing at that level.

Socrates and his young rider were then selected for the Irish Team for the 2017 Pony European Championships in Hungary where, despite being the youngest pony competing, he did his breeder proud.  Afterwards his owner/breeder, Jo Wright, commented “It was definitely worth travelling that far to be there. Socrates coped with the atmosphere really well, especially considering he’s only seven years old. Leah has worked so hard, I’m excited to watch them develop further for next year.”

In recognition of this achievement, the SPSS awarded the prestigious SPSS Dancer Medal which is given annually by the SPSS to a worthy pony.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

RFS Socrates is a very modern young stallion with the perfect combination of continental, proven dressage bloodlines with the best British pony heritage. He is black based with one copy of the Agouti gene so can sire black foals.

His first foal was the highest scoring dressage pony yearling overall at the BEF Futurity in 2013 and is now successfully starting out under saddle himself, including qualifying for the 2016 Young Dressage Pony Finals. Photos and video of his first three foals are available on request.

As Socrates is now in Ireland and concentrating on his ridden career, his excellent quality frozen doses are limited.
