Romulus’ pedigree is filled with some of the best bloodlines available for pony breeding.
Sire: Romulus' sire, Premium stallion Renoir (by Welsh B stallion Racket), started his career with a win at the Westphalian Riding Pony Championships and a Bronze medal at the Bundeschampionat for Riding ponies. The following year he regained his Bronze medal at the Bundeschampionat and concluded his Performance Test with outstanding marks of 8.0 for paces, 9.0 for jumping under saddle, 9.5 for rideability and 10.0 for willingness to work. These marks reflect his suitability for pony breeding as ultimately, the ponies are for children to ride. After his Performance Test Renoir was trained and competed successfully to Advanced-Medium/FEI level.
Renoir's offspring include graded pony stallion Rodrigo as well as Rembrandt DDH. Under Dutch Pony rider Maria van Dungen, Rembrandt DDH was never placed lower than 4th place in FEI Pony Dressage competitions and won European Team Gold in 2010 and Team Silver in 2009. Rembrandt DDH was talked about as the ‘Totilas’ of ponies and was invited to do a showcase with top dressage stallion Totilas at Zwolle International Show in Holland. After Rembrandt’s sale to Great Britain and with his new rider, Maisie Scruton, he was selected for the European Championships in 2011, where the British Team finished 4th and Rembrandt finished 6th (and was highest scoring British team pony) in the Team test, then 9th in both the Individual and Kur Finals.
Dam: Romulus’ dam side is filled with State Premium mares for several generations. His dam St. Pr. St. Donna Dendera was also a winner of the Westphalian Mare Elite Show. Romulus’ great dam sire Pr.H. Dancer can be found in the pedigrees of the most successful Riding Ponies of all time including multi-European Champion Deinhard B, FS Dior de Luxe and FS Champion de Luxe to name a few.
Damsire: Romulus' damsire, Don Joshi I AT, is also no stranger to top placings and red ribbons. The son of multi-champion Dressman I, European Pony Dressage Champion in 2002 and 2003, was Reserve Bundeschampion in 2001, won the Bundeschampionate for 6-year old Dressage Ponies in 2002 and was subsequently nominated reserve pony for the European Championships, ironically a reserve for his sire Dressman I. From his first crop, Depardieu AT was Stallion champion at the Westphalian stallion licensing and his daughter Diamond Lady was in the final of the Westphalian Mare Elite show. He also produced offspring that achieved up to €50,000 at auction and with Der Kleine Prints produced a Bundeschampion in 2007.

Romulus was bought by Meadow Stud late in 2011 and he was backed early in 2012. After less than a month under saddle, Romulus successfully did a ridden display at the British Stallion Event and impressed the audience. He will now be brought on slowly in 2011.

Romulus’ pedigree is second to none within the world of pony breeding and despite the predominantly Dressage lineage, Romulus displays a jump comparable to any top modern stallion and is surely a stallion to contribute vastly to the pony/small horse industry.
Romulus is available for fresh/chilled semen for the first time in 2012 |
