Hearnesbrook New Moon has very correct conformation, is a lovely mover, has great jumping technique and a fantastic temperament. This versatile pony has won numerous prizes in a variety of disciplines including showing, showjumping, eventing and international performance classes. He has competed up to BE100 eventing, showjumped at Pony Foxhunter (1.10m), qualifying for the Blue Chip Championships. His main focus has been on Working Hunter Pony Classes, where he has also enjoyed great success including winning at the BSPS Heritage Championships, qualifying for the Royal International in 2018, 2019 and 2020. He has been placed 2nd at the Royal International, 5th at Horse of the Year Show and Won his class at the Royal Windsor in 2019, before being named overall Reserve Champion.

Hearnesbrook New Moon is a British-bred Connemara.

 

Sire:  Hearnesbrook Halley was a NASTA Performance Tested Stallion who was awarded Performance Class 1 when tested in 1994.  His jumping index (calculated using the marks for free jumping, show-jumping and cross-country jumping) was 706 and his dressage index (calculated using the marks for the ridden test and the walk, trot and canter paces marks) 633  He was also given a Ridden Award by the BCPS; this award recognised where stallions had themselves been successful in the Performance Award Scheme.  Hearnesbrook Halley has 37 progeny registered with the BCPS (as at Jan 2022), with New Moon his only surviving pure-bred stallion son.  Hearnesbrook Mystic Shadow (born 2006) has competed at BE80, recording double clear rounds. 16hh Hearnesbrook Derby Day (SHB(GB) registered and out of a TB mare) is a Grade 1 eventer, who competed up to Advanced including top 20 placings at CIC** and CCI** including clear XC rounds at Houghton International and Osberton International in 2010 and finishing 9th in the 2011 Osberton International CCI**.

 

Dam: Pilgrims Mistral's damline goes back to the famous Irish sire Mac Dara who is also the sire of Ormond Oliver. Pilgrims Mistral produced 14 foals for Hearnesbrook Stud.

 

Damsire: Thunderbolt was a successful sire of BCPS Premium stallions, including Cocum Camelot, Pilgrim’s Excaliber and Spinway Comet.  The BCPS awarded Premiums up to 2010 based on points to ponies whose progeny have performed well in in-hand and/or ridden competitions.

New Moon has twice been selected for the British team in the International Performance classes at both Dublin & Clifden, bringing home prizes on both occasions.

 

Despite very limited outings in 2021 due to his breeding commitments, Moon competed at 3 legs of the Cotswold Cup, finishing 8th, 2nd and 1st, finishing on his dressage score on every occasion.

 

Hearnesbrook New Moon scored great marks when presented for grading with with the Sport Pony Studbook Society (SPSS) in 2021 and finished the year as Reserve Champion Stallion across all gradings.

  

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Hearnesbrook New Moon was used on 3 mares as a young colt, before focusing solely on his ridden career until 2021. We eagerly wait his foals in 2022, from a wide variety of horse and pony mares.

 

His existing progeny include:

  • Hearnesbrook Titan - Began eventing in 2021, with double clears at BE80

  • The Nightingale - Competes unaffiliated eventing, with placings at Connemara Championships
