Sire:  Born in the Netherlands in 2009, KWPN registered and AES graded, Eros competed at British Showjumping from 2014 (when he was 5) until 2019 and in that time went from double clears at Senior British Novice (in 2014) to Senior Discovery, Newcomers and 1.00m Novice in 2015 then through the levels to achieve multiple double clears and top 5 placings in 1.30m classes in 2019. Some of Eros's oldest UK born progeny are competing at British Showjumping, with 2013 born Shovern Inca graded JC and getting double clears over 1.15m and  Ashendene's Aphrodite (also born in 2013) getting double clears in Senior British Novice & Discovery classes and Grade C.

Eros is from the first crop of foals by Diarado, Paul Schockemohle’s Holstein Licensing Champion Stallion who was a bronze medallist at the Bundeschampionat for 5 year old show jumping horses in 2010. Diarado represented Belgium and Germany in FEI Showjumping classes from 2014 to 2016 including in the 1m50 classes at the 2016 Paderborn CSI3*.

Diarado retired sound from competition to focus on his stud duties and he has been popular in Germany as both a showjumping and eventing sire - and in 2021 & 2021 he ranked 2nd in the WBFSH Eventing Sires Ranking with his top scoring progeny being JL Dublin (winner in 2021 of the CCI4*-L at Avenches,  the CCI4*-S at Hartpury and the CCI4*-L at Bicton ridden by Nicola Wilson (GB)) and Diachello (part of the NZ team at the Tokyo Olympics and 11th in the Lexington CCI5*-L ridden by Jesse Campbell (NZ)).

Among Diarado's successful showjumping progeny is Don Diarado who has won over €700K and been on the German team for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, 2018 World Equestrian Games (winning Team Bronze) and 2019 FEI Nations Cup Final, all ridden by Maurice Tebbel.  Diarado ranked 13th in the 2021 WBFSH Jumping Sire Ranking Top 100 Sires and he has sired over 50 licensed stallions.

Diarado's sire, Diamant de Semilly topped the WBFSH Sire Rankings for the second time in 2016, having been inside the top ten since 2012, and was ranked second in 2020 & 2021 (and 6th in the Eventing rakings in 2020/21 too). During his career, in 2002 he was French National Champion and WEG Team Gold medallist then in 2003 he was a European Team Silver medallist. His offspring include Quickly Du Kreisker (FEI World Number One 2015), Don VHP Z (winner of the Rome GCT), Utamaro D’Ecaussines (member of British Nations Cup squad), Hello Guv'nor (winner Aachen 2016), and Helidor Hybris, who jumped national Grand Prix as a 7 year old.

Eros's damline includes the famous showjumping stallions, Voltaire, Irco Polo and Lux Z.

Dam:  Samsara Gold (who is known as "Erika" for her sire) is homebred out of April, whose pedigree has good old bloodlines including Dream of the Night.  Darius is Erika's only foal and she has passed on her kind personality and talent..  Erika was the easiest mare to back and ride, not your typical "chestnut mare" at all.  She evented at BE90 and BE100 levels between 2008 and 2013, recording many double clears to finish on her dressage score and achieve top 5 placing numerous times at BE90 and also finished 10th at the Brooksby Melton College BE90 Regional Final in 2013.  She also finished 7th on her dressage score at BE100 that year.  Then in 2016/7, Eirka competed at British Showjumping, winning at 0.90m and finishing in the top 5 at 1.00m.  Across her 9 British Showjumping recorded results, Eika had a double clear each time.  Erika won loads of unaffiliated eventing at Eland Lodge, Kelsall and Boldheath before she affiliated.

Damsire:  Erik was an unregistered Welsh Sec D stallion whose parentage was never recorded but his sire is thought to be Roadhouse.

Performance

Darius is now backed, which he was so easy to do, he has a beautiful attitude to work and a canter "to die for".

Ridden photos below from Spring 2023.

Darius started his competition career with British Dressage in May 2023 winning a BD 4 year old Young Pony qualifier.  He then did 3 more shows (a total of 5 classes), placing no lower than 4th and picking up 13 Foundation Points  before going to the BD Young Dressage Pony Finals at Hartpury in July where he won the 4 year old Young Pony Final (national championship) with 75% only being backed 20 weeks and only going to a handful of competitions/clinics.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Darius is a promising youngster with strong show jumping lines on his sire's side and a dam who show jumped and evented successfully.  Expected to mature as a small horse,  Darius is jet black, compact with good bone, has an amazing temperament and is so easy to deal with.

With Eros's bloodlines combined with his dam's ability as an eventer and showjumper, Darius is expected to be an excellent all-rounder as well as a showjumping sire.

2022 was his first season at stud.
