Sire:

Shingle Hall Senator is by Carnaval Drum, the top BHD sire, who produced the first ever British bred World Champion, Carnavelly, whose outstanding performance ensures he is the only horse ever to have won the German Classic at Brehem and the Berlin Grand Prix in 1988. In 2001, his achievements continued by winning the Hickstead Derby Trial, and at Olympia winning the World Cup Qualifier. The 1999 Festival of Show Jumping saw Carnaval Drum’s progeny become the highest placed British bred 5 and 6 year olds in their classes.

Dam:

Handley Barns Babe is a SHB(GB) graded mare who is out of a mare by Handley Barns Grandee who was himself by the prolific sire Dallas. Dallas was a Grade A showjumper who sired many championship winning stock include Hello Oscar, Hello Feliz, Dexter The Fourth and Burghley horse trials winner Diamond Hall Red.

Damsire:

Handley Barns Herve was exported to the US in 1999, where he was gelded and competed, having a successful career initially as a Showjumper and then with his next owner he was successful in both Junior and Working Hunter classes.

Performance

2007 Newcomers Regional Finals

Despite being brought on slowly as a youngster and then having to take back seat for a couple of years due to family illness and other commitments, Shingle Hall Senator has been successful in all disciplines with many wins to his name from showing to show jumping.

He is pictured at the National Hunter Show 2005 (above) and a 2005 Winter Novice qualifier (above left). Before his owner-enforced break, he had moved on to BSJA 1.30m classes and, in 2007, performed well at the Newcomers Regional Finals

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Shingle Hall Senator is sire of 2008 BEF Futurity Champion Yearling and is ideal to add that extra quality to pony lines. His progeny inherit his amazing temperament and ability and he is also producing winners in dressage and the show ring. He has attracted a broad selection of mares, ranging from the traditional cob to the classic Thoroughbred/Irish Draft cross and, without exception, the owners are extremely pleased. His offspring to date have all achieved a minimum of First Premiums at the Futurity Evaluations and we are hoping to continue this trend.

Pictured at the bottom of the page are a two year old colt out of a Welton mare and Knockleith Eureka (out of Shawhill Subrina, damsire Feraree) who was the top scoring yearling in the 2008 Baileys Horse Feeds/BEF Futurity.   Knockleith Eureka (SHBGB) was bred by Mandy Quinn from Knockleith, Aberdeen and was entered in the Eventing section of the Futurity where he gained an impressive score of 9.09, giving him an Elite First Premium.

In 2010, as well as all 7 of his Futurity evaluated progeny gaining First or Higher First Premiums, Senator finished 3rd (out of 24) in the Event sires ranking - with a higher score for his top 3 progeny than Mill Law, Jumbo and other notable Event sires!
