The 2022 Stallion Grading Champion, Summer Solstice's pedigree contains many of the influential ponies in continental sports pony breeding, including Keston Royal Occasion as well as Downland Chevalier and Solway Master Bronze.  Only lightly used at stud to date, of his 3 known progeny, the two bred by Charlotte have achieved Gold Premiums (ie scored over 80%) when evaluated as Sports Ponies by the SPSS or Futurity and Rockwood Royal Celebration was Reserve Part-bred Champion at the WPCS SWA Summer Medal Show this year. His other foal, now a 3 year old, won the 2/3 year old class at the same show, was 4th in the Sports Horse class at Devon County Show in 2022 and has also been placed in other local shows.

Summer Solstice himself did well showing as a youngster and as a stallion and, more recently, has been getting good scores in Prelim and Novice unaffiliated dressage classes, including winning a Senior Showing & Dressage class. Summer Solstice impressed the judges at his grading, with their comments including “good sports pony type” and “very balanced and elastic with good attitude”.

Summer Solstice's pedigree contains many of the influential ponies in continental sports pony breeding, with multiple occurrences of Keston Royal Occasion as well as Downland Chevalier and Solway Master Bronze.

Sire:

Millcroft Royal Lustre

Dam:

Jananda Royal Celebration is out of Criffell Cassia, whose sire line includes the well know Downland Mandarin, a son of the famous Downland Chevalier who can be found in the pedigree of many influential sports ponies including the SPSS Elite Stallions Broomford Dancer (better known in the Continent as "Dancer"), Danger 36, RFS Socrates, Manitu N, Machno Carwyn and Littledale Bright Star.  Cassia's damsire, Solway Master Bronze, is also frequently found in the back pedigree of succesful continental sports ponies.

Damsire:

Cottrell Artiste has been one of the most prolific and influential Section B stallions producing several Royal Welsh Champions and having progeny wining under saddle at HOYS. His sire was the well known Rotherwood State Occasion whose sire Keston Royal Occasion was exported to Australia where he became an influential sire of riding ponies.  His maternal grandsire, Keston Royal Occasion, is renowned around the world and was exported to Australia in 1982 where he became an influential sire of riding ponies. Royal Occasions’ dam, Clyphada Periwinkle, is a descendent of Solway Master Bronze, whose damline goes back to include a polo pony, while Periwinkle’s dam, Kirby Cane Plume, carried Arab blood via the influential stallion Tan-y-Bwlch Berwyn.
