A charismatic stallion with the sweetest of temperaments and the extra “Wow” factor, he was awarded the British Breeders SPSS Performance & Breeding Award in January 2011.  Caesar is graded Elite with the SPSS in recognition of his International competition successes and, despite his competition career taking precedence for many years, he is also a successful sire.

Caesar has graded sons and daughters in Germany and is damsire of the Reserve Bundeschampion in 2008 & 2009.  In the UK he has sired 3 SPSS graded sons, the 2014 National Novice Open Dressage Champion, the 2014 SPSS Mare Grading Champion and the 2012 Mare Grading Reserve Champion.  At the 2008 British Breeders Awards, LE Chiffre (Caesar 171 x Donnerwetter) was awarded the trophy for "Best British Bred Pony Foal" and in 2013 LE Chiffre emulated his sire by competing Internationally for GB.  In 2016, a further 3 British-bred Caesar 171 progeny, Cruz, Rosewater I Claudius and Ella, competed at FEI CDIPs - which is believed to make Caesar 171 the most successful British-based sire of British-bred dressage ponies to date.

Sire:

Condor, an influential son of Constantin, the foundation Welsh Section B stallion in German Riding Pony breeding. Prolific sire of winning ponies including ‘Cash and Go’ the 6 yr. Bundeschampion in 1996 and ‘Konrad’ the 4 yr old Bundeschampion in 1995. Both sons were members of the German gold medal team at the 2000 European Pony Dressage Championships and Konrad has proved to be one of Germany’s most valuable European Team ponies to date.

Dam:

Dina, now deceased, produced 9 offspring including 3 licensed stallions and with only Dina’s offspring, her owner placed 23rd in pony breeding premiums in Germany in 2001. Dina has foundation lines of Welsh and Anglo-Arab descent. In fact, the almost extinct damline of Dina and her daughters and granddaughters have produced several approved stallions and successful performance ponies. Dina’s dam’s sire Caid, a French Anglo-Arab, was a crucial stallion for Weser-Ems and other regions, stamping his get “to the current moment like no other stallion” and being an important broodmare sire of many licensed stallions.

Damsire:

Askan a 14hh Welsh pony, was paired with the Welsh stallion Werwolf to win over 60 combined driving contests against warmbloods.  He sired 7 licensed stallions and may successful dressage, jumping & driving ponies.

Performance

This 13.3hh bay dressage stallion was approved in Germany in 1991 by the Pferdestammbuch Weser-Ems. In 1994, he completed his performance test very successfully gaining a good score (including two 10s).  In the same year, Caesar was also 6th at the Bundeschampionat in the five-years old dressage pony class.

After being imported to the UK, he was Restricted Medium Winter Champion in 2000 ridden by his  owner, the Pony Rider, Victoria Molloy.  Caesar was then a member of the GB Pony Team that won Silver at the European Championships in Germany in 2000 and the Bronze medal winning team in 2002.

In 2003, ridden by Natalie Allen, Caesar was again scoring over 70% in Open Medium and FEI Pony classes.  Caesar was then paired with Samantha Brown who won the regional Talent Spotting and was Reserve at the Finals in 2007.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Caesar was born in 1989 and he was approved by the Pferdestammbuch Weser-Ems in 1991.  In 1994 he did his performance test very successfully with 8.58 in Radegast.

Caesar has produced very good driving-ponies, in particular, his son "Cholin S" won the Team Gold in Driving for handicapped drivers, and individual Bronze for handicapped drivers with Germany's Heiner Lehrter at the World Championships. They were also German Champions in 2006.

Although Caesar did not have very many offspring in Germany, his son Chopin is approved and his daughter Chambaly is a State Premium mare.  Unfortunately, his son Chopin was gelded before he had many foals, but one of his daughters (Cassiopeia WE) was an elite auction pony in the Elite-Auktion of the Oldenburger Verband. Caesar is also the damsire of the Reserve Bundeschampion in 2008 & 2009.

His oldest UK progeny are now rising 10 years old but he has already sired 3 SPSS graded sons (LE Chiffre, Rosewater I Claudius & Godrics Cameggio) and 2 SPSS graded daughters, the 2014 Mare Champion, Ella and the 2012 Reserve Champion, Bernwode Celeste.

At the 2008 British Breeders Awards, LE Chiffre (Caesar 171 x Donnerwetter) was awarded the trophy for "Best British Bred Pony Foal".  In 2012, LE Chiffre was Reserve Champion Young Dressage Pony then in 2013 he represented GB at International Pony Dressage and so was awarded Elite graded status with the SPSS.  Also in 2013, another Caesar son, Cruz, was the Overall Champion Young Dressage Pony.

In 2014, 5 year old Cruz was the British Dressage National Novice Open Champion (ridden by Phoebe Peters); 7 year old SPSS Elite graded LE Chiffre scored over 73% internationally and was selected as Reserve for the GB Pony European Championships Dressage Team.  Awarded the SPSS Dancer medal in 2013, LE Chiffre is the first SPSS passported pony to represent GB and his daughter, Ella, was the 2014 Mare Grading Champion.  In recognition of these excellent results, Caesar was awarded the 2014 SPSS Dancer Medal (see more here).  In addition, his 5 year old son, Gorics Campeggio passed his SPSS licensing to become a SPSS graded stallion.

In 2015, LE Chiffre again competed internationally for GB; Bathleyhills Sea Wurzel (ridden by Grace Johnston) was Novice Restricted Music Freestyle Champion and Cruz was Medium Restricted National Champion (ridden by Jayne Turney).  Six year old Godrics Campeggio (ridden by Anna Burns) started competing in BS affiliated classes and won at Pony Newcomers, Pony Discovery and Junior 1.10m levels - Godrics Campeggio was assessed by an international BS coach as being a potential FEI jumping pony.

In 2016, 7 year old Cruz was 4th (with 70.54%) in the British Dressage Medium Open Winter Championships (ridden by Jayne Turney) then competed at the Compeigne CDIP (ridden by Charlotte McDowell) where he scored no less than 68% in any of the 2 tests and finished 10th in the Team test and 9th in the Individual.  Then Ella competed at both the Roosendaal and Hagen CDIPs for Ireland (ridden by Laura Dennehy).  LE Chiffre competed for GB at the Pony Euros and scored 70%+ in all 3 tests, 6 yr old Ella was on the Irish Team, and Cruz & Rosewater I Claudius also competed internationally.

Since then, Ella's full brother, George Clooney B.S competed at the 2018 Pony Euros and Bathleyhills Sea Wurzel competed at the 2019 Hickstead CDIP

Caesar is one of the most successful pony sires in the UK, producing more proven international dressage ponies than any other UK based pony stallion.
